Don’t stress out about throwing a ‘perfect’ birthday party for your kids. You don’t need to compete with the parents of your children’s classmates. A birthday party is supposed to be fun, and so is the planning behind it, so don’t give yourself too many headaches over the prospect.
In this article, we have some ideas for a stress-free kid’s birthday party, so give them some consideration. By following our tips, you won’t be made to feel as if you are failing as a mother, and you won’t have to put up with the stares and gossipy comments of any judgy mums, either.
#1: Don’t invite everybody from your child’s class
Inviting everybody has become a trend for many parents, but there is no harm in breaking it. For starters, you won’t end up inviting those children that your child doesn’t get on with, or those parents that you struggle with too. And you won’t have to go bankrupt buying all that is needed to feed and entertain 30-40 children (and their parents). Sometimes, more intimate parties can be a lot more fun for your children, and a lot less stressful for you. So, instead of inviting the world and its mum, consider giving your children a sleepover party, or any other kind of party that allows your child to have quality time spent with the people they value the most.
#2: Remember that you don’t have to use your home
Unless you want to spend the rest of your week picking up crumbs, scraping jelly from the walls, and stepping on pieces of gum that the other kids have left behind, consider having a party away from home. Especially if you do decide to opt for a large number of kids, this will make your life a whole lot easier. So, you might hire a community hall that is big enough for your needs, perhaps with a children’s entertainer to keep your kids happy. From magicians to clowns, find somebody in your local area. Alternatively, take the kids to a bowling alley, a skate park, a soft play center, a nearby Lazer Quest, or to any other fun places near to your home. You will then have less to do when it comes to entertaining your kids, and if the venue does food as well, you won’t have to spend hours preparing a kids buffet, either.
#3: Consider potential party disasters
To have a stress-free birthday party, there are some mistakes you don’t want to make. So, you shouldn’t get your dates muddled up and hold the party when other children are unlikely to attend. You shouldn’t forget to find out everybody’s dietary requirements. And you shouldn’t forget to check the weather forecast if you’re planning on an outdoor party. Here are some other birthday party mistakes you don’t want to make. Not only will you appear red-faced and embarrassed if you do fall prey to a disaster, but your little ones won’t be very happy either. So, consider any potential party calamity and preempt them in the planning stages by taking the necessary steps to avoid them.
