Fashion Week London – Fashion Trends 2018

Looking for that next big 2018 trend? I’m sharing some catwalk secrets today…..

Spring Summer
London Fashion Week

A huge hello to you all and welcome. How are you all today? Well, I hope? I also hope you are ready to be given the heads up on lots of great trends that emerged from the recent London fashion week.

From the gorgeous rainbow theme rocked by the gorgeous Burberry to ‘What is this year’s new black?’. If you didn’t manage to trawl through videos and still shots of the week, I did and I loved what I was seeing. However, not many of us are able to rock some of the crazy and daring catwalk looks on the school run. So, I am letting you in on some of the trends I know will be crossing over to more everyday looks. Hopefully, they will inspire you to try a new look.

Fashion Week Dripping in Tartan

We want and have to start with tartan really! It was everywhere for this season and who isn’t obsessed? From the show attendees to the models themselves. Printed on trousers, shirts and long trench coats it really is the ‘NOW’ pattern. I also saw a lot of doubled, clashed tartan and I am excited to give this look a go. Tartan is a go-to for Spring and Summer this year and a trend I am already on board with. It was the feature in my recent outfit of the week. Easier to style than you might think so a great 2018 fashion trend to rock as an everyday look.

’90s Baby

The nineties are here to stay! Can I get a hallelujah? Although the style on the catwalk was very ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-air’ with beyond bright colours. Bordering on neon. Equally bold geometric patterns but I have to admit I wasn’t hating it. Turned up, washed out, high waisted boyfriend jeans with a bright pair of kicks. A crop top and a choker and you’re ready to roll. I am really excited to see where this goes, within the everyday look of fashion. This was my era so I am there. I am living it and loving it and so are the trends in 2018.

Pretty Pastel Fashion Week

With Spring on the way, there was a clear emergence of pastel colours to enjoy but the one that was a clear winner was baby blue. From beautiful jackets and accessories, this colour is so usable. A lovely jacket with a plain white Tshirt, Nice fitting jeans and comfortable shoes. A great everyday style while embracing that catwalk feel. Having said that don’t be afraid to rock some pastels pinks, yellows and purples too.

Make A Statement

Statement coats are always a must for the catwalks but it’s harder to wear it day-to-day. I found the key on the catwalk was ‘go big or go home’ really. Whether it is an embroidered symbol on the back of a denim jacket (oversized for sure, a coat in a bold floral print or in a daring colour or cut. Play it up by making the rest of your outfit clean, simple and you’re on to a winner. I love a good jacket or coat and my favourite statement coats are faux fur ones. Do you love a statement coat? Let me know in the comments.

‘Not So’ Mellow

We can’t possibly talk about London Fashion Week and not mention the deluge of mustard yellow. Mostly in knitwear, specifically knitted jumpers but I am loving this Spring trend. We’ve had a cold start to the year here in the UK so nobody is ready to give up the woolly jumpers just yet.

A gorgeous mustard yellow jumper with a blue jean and boots. Perfect for a chilly Spring day but so on-trend. Bright colours to lift your mood and those around you. Don’t be afraid to grab a matching body-cross bag or even matching shoes. This look is just so cute I need it my wardrobe yesterday!

Keeping Up With Keeping it Casual

Casual sportswear is still in full effect and although I don’t personally wear it I do like it. Kim Kardashian, with Kanye’s help, of course, has been rocking the look for a minute and I get it. Comfortable and relaxed for those who are constantly on the go. Now, without having to compromise your fashion needs. Rock this look with trainers or heels. Or, if like me you’re a little nervous about this trend why not mix and match. Choose a nice sports jacket or top and rock with your favourite pair of jeans. I do have something in the works in regards to this trend though so stay tuned for a future blog post.

Don’t Be Blue, Be Navy for Fashion Week

The final thing I would like to discuss is a question I posted above. ‘What is this year’s new black?’. As it would turn out is actually Navy and I am really pleased about this. Black is flattering yes but it also can become a little much. Black trousers, black top, black shoes……THIS IS LIFE NOT A FUNERAL. Having some Navy alternatives are great to have in the wardrobe. Just as classic as any black item you may have. Give Navy a try but in particular navy trousers in a wide leg. Flattering to lots of body shapes and sizes and lots of choices to style it with. A much warmer colour than black and probably just what our wardrobes needed.

I could, of course, sit here forever discussing the trends that will be bursting through to 2018 but this should be enough for today! So, what have we learnt about fashion trends in 2018? TARTAN!!!!!!! Bright Nineties, Navy over Black, Mustard Yellow, BIG prints and BIG patterns and casuals sportswear until you’re heart’s content.
What trends are you looking forward to the most from this list? Any you’d like to try but not sure how? Let me know in the comments below or over on my Facebook.
Lots of Love,

  1. I love so many of these. Especially the colorful stuff. I don’t think I can get in on the mom jean trend. That’s a hard one to swallow. Lol!

  2. Yh gotta say I’m not sure on the mum jeans 🙈🙊🙊😂😂😚😚 love the 90s stuff though and pastels x

  3. I love Navy, or any shade of blue for that matter. No other colour can be so classy and chic at the same time. I love the pastels too <3

  4. What a lovely collection. I have a hard time wearing certain prints because I feel they make me look old (I’m a mid 50’s woman) so I generally stay away from them. 🙂

  5. 90’s are here to stay…. can I just cry?! lol I hate it, but that’s probably because I lived it already, back in the 90’s so every time I see those trends I feel like if I took something out of my teenage wardrope lol Not fan… BUT I am all for the beuatiful yellows!! And pastels of course 😉

  6. Oh my look at all the trends. I’m not loving the 90’s look. I can’t go back there lol. But I do dig the mustard yellow and the pastels. The navy is not really my color – I rather still stick with black. Thanks for sharing Tahnee.

  7. I must say, tartan is usually a fall and winter pattern for me. I look forward to seeing some of the warm weather ways it is styled in the local stores. I do love pastels and am happy that you have reported they are in style this spring!

  8. I am not ready for the 90’s to be back! (Although they’ve been back for awhile.) It makes me feel old and dated, haha. I do love a good choker though and I’m all there for the navy blue and mustard. 🙂

  9. Tartan during spring and summer… wow that sure is a new one… I’m definitely gonna try getting myself something in tartan, that will still give a summer look. Baby blue and the pastels, mustard, and navy blue are always my favourites 🙂 looks like m going shopping to ring in some summer

  10. I feel like this season’s fashion trends were made just for me. hahah. They’re just my style. Love it!
